Another visit to Portland Art Museum

This ZooGuide volunteer thing has some nice perks! This month is volunteer appreciation month and we can get into many different attractions for free. We plan to visit some more next week.

Today we took advantage of free admission to the Portland Art Museum. This time it was just the two of us checking out the art at our leisure. He did seem to engage more with large pieces with contrasting colors, anything animal and of course the modern art pieces with televisions. He was getting inspiration for our next messy madness art class.

We also had a special treat at Tartberry frozen yogurt, which he LOVED!

Messy Madness

Griffin having a blast at Messy Madness! It's an occasional event at a local kids art studio called Art ala Carte PDX. They throw some tarps on the floor with bottles of paint and glitter, some shaving cream on the kids picnic table and viola- wait for the magic to happen.

Griffin had just woke from a nap when we got there so it took a good 20 minutes for him to get into it.

There was even a photographer there capturing the fun. I will post more of her images when I get them.

Griffin's First Birthday

Griffin had a blast at his birthday party. He loved all of the attention and the cake!  He even learned what "teal" tastes like :)

Happy Birthday Griffin

In a blink of an eye, my little boy is 1. He has brought us so much joy, laughter, wtf, frustration at times, and pure amazement. I feel like the luckiest person alive to have been there for almost every minute of it.

Today was a beautiful day. We spent the morning birding at Tualatin River NWR, had lunch with his buddy Miriam (who turns 1 tomorrow), picked out balloons at the party store and topped it off with a cupcake! Perfect.
